The CGSV featured another set of up-and-coming talent yesterday evening in it’s Twilight Student Recital, all in the beautiful setting of St Stephens Church, Richmond.
We were treated to recitals of Bach, Legnani and Turina from Evan Hopkins, Boccherini from Evan’s trio and Sor (plus others) from Jesse Damjanovski. Hopkins is really shaping up to be a fine player and his rendition of Turina’s Fandanguillo was a real treat. The trio also showed great musicianship and you could sense a real connection between the three musicians. Damjanovski, a first year student at Monash, put in a solid performance of some Sor material, if a little nervy. I can’t tell you what else he played as he didn’t announce the titles or composers; feel free to let us know next time Jesse!
